Sahara Farzaneh is a Persian-Canadian oil painter based in New York City. Her figures are women — present, sovereign, and resistant to easy reading.

Her work moves between two questions: what persists in a person beneath all the shifts, and what it means to occupy a place in the world — alone and among others.

Farzaneh's paintings do not resolve their subjects. They simply insist on them.
